Ever wanted to run your own shop?
This is a genuinely unique role.
Tollers Toys is a small, growing brand selling sustainable, screen free, battery free toys for young children. We've built a strong online presence, and we're about to open our first physical shop - a unit on the mezzanine at Glossop Market Hall. We need someone to run it.
Not just staff it. Run it.
The role:
You'll manage a real shop day to day, handle the pick, pack and dispatch of our online orders from the same location, and create the video content that tells people about it. Three jobs in one, and a genuine opportunity to learn how a small business actually works, with direct support from the people behind Tollers.
What you'll actually be doing:
Running the shop
-
Opening and closing the store, day to day operations, and making sure it runs smoothly
-
Serving customers and creating a warm, welcoming experience for families and children
-
Using our EPOS system to take payments and manage stock
-
Merchandising the shop floor and keeping it looking the way a Tollers shop should
-
Helping to recruit, train and manage a small team of part time staff to cover weekends and holidays as the shop grows
Online store fulfilment
-
Picking, packing and dispatching online orders from the Glossop unit
-
Keeping stock levels accurate across both the shop and the online store
-
Managing daily despatch and courier collections
Content and marketing
-
Filming, editing and posting short form video content for Tollers' Instagram and TikTok, based in and around the shop
-
Bringing genuine ideas and creativity to how we tell the Tollers story locally
-
Here's what makes this part of the role a bit different from a normal shop job. Tollers is backed by Childsey, a working marketing agency, so you're not just joining a shop, you're joining an agency team too. When the shop's quiet, that downtime becomes a chance to gain experience within our marketing team, helping with video editing for Childsey clients. You'll have full support and proper training from people who do this for a living, not something you're left to work out alone. Ever fancied yourself as a bit of a designer or writer before, even just for fun? This could be exactly the kind of variety you're after.
Hours and rota:
This is a full time role with regular weekend shifts built into the rota as standard. As the team grows, you'll help shape the rota and manage cover so weekends and holidays are always sorted.
Who you report to:
You'll report directly to the people behind Tollers, who manage both the business operations and the marketing, and who will be your main point of contact and support day to day.
What you'll bring:
-
Previous experience working front of house in a shop, café, or similar customer facing role
-
Confidence using a smartphone to film and edit short form video, and a genuine interest in Instagram and TikTok content
-
A warm, friendly manner with customers, children and comfort being on camera
-
Reliability. This shop needs to open on time, every time
-
An entrepreneurial streak. You'll be given real responsibility and real trust to make decisions
-
Strong organisation, since you'll be juggling retail, fulfilment and content in the same day
-
Based in or easily able to commute to Glossop
A driving licence is useful, for the occasional stock collection or post office trip, but it isn't essential.
No specific qualifications are required. What matters most is attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
What you'll get:
-
A genuinely unique role with real ownership and responsibility from day one
-
Direct mentorship from the people behind Tollers, learning how a small ecommerce and retail business actually runs
-
The chance to build and lead your own small team as the shop grows
-
Competitive salary, depending on experience
-
The opportunity to be the first hire into Tollers' physical retail side, with real scope to shape how it grows
How to apply:
Send us your CV, along with a cover letter telling us why you'd be good at this.
We're not looking for a perfectly polished letter, we're more interested in getting a genuine sense of who you are. If it feels like a good fit, the next step will be an informal call, a chance for us to get to know you a bit better, and for you to ask us anything you're unsure about.
